About Us

The National Field Research Centre for Environmental Conservation (NFRCEC), Diwan of Royal Court, Sultanate of Oman is leading in environmental conservation activities focusing on critically threatened species and habitats across the Sultanate of Oman and provider of cutting-edge in biodiversity conservation research, education, and training, since its inception in 2009. Scientific rigor and innovative methodologies, underpin the conservation actions of NFRCEC.

In 2018, The National Field Research Centre for Environmental Conservation, Diwan of Royal Court, Sultanate of Oman, began a collaboration with the Center for Environmental Studies and Research and the Remote Sensing and GIS Research Center, Sultan Qaboos University, Sultanate of Oman, for the conservation of Birds. The conservation activities involve birds monitoring, investigation on birds migration, research on habitat conditions on the health of bird populations, provide accurate database about wild birds of Oman, and providing a variety of environmental programs that connect people segments. 

This database comes as fruit of this collaboration between both bodies.

We strive to conserve the Omani birds, their habitats, and global biodiversity through an integrated approach of science, education, and working with people towards sustainability in the use of natural resources.

Our Goal
  • Generate innovative and renewable  scientific database about Omani birds to provide accurate data for researchers, hopers and Planners.
  • Conserve, maintain and improve the sites and habitats important for birds and biodiversity.
